Welcome to Woodburn Laboratory

Moving your science forward.

Woodburn Laboratory, a full-service CRO, can design and perform complete studies, facilitate your own studies or simply house your animals. We offer customizable contract services for your rodent models that include complete animal husbandry, an experienced care staff, technical services, and veterinary oversight.

Our dedicated research animal facility is a time- and cost-effective option for new and established biomedical, biotechnology, and biopharmaceutical companies wishing to generate preclinical data. As an OLAW-assured facility, we also accommodate university and institutional (PHS-funded) studies. Our in-house Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) can complete the protocol approval process in 1-2 weeks.

In Vitro Services

Who are we

Located in Madison, WI – an enclave of biomedical and cellular biology research – Woodburn Laboratory embodies Midwestern values of hard work, honesty, modesty, and no-nonsense results. We are an OLAW-assured, Ph.D.-backed facility offering full vivarium services for mouse and rat models.

"It is quite challenging and expensive to perform in vivo studies for startups who do not have in-house capabilities. Thus it is usually achieved by contracting out the in vivo studies to external CROs. Woodburn Laboratory is exactly what is needed to be able to perform our own animal studies without outsourcing to external entities. We have been using Woodburn Laboratory for testing of our drugs in disease models. The vivarium is well equipped with a surgery room, a disposable caging system and on-site trained personnel for any assistance needed. It has been a great experience using the facilities offered by this vivarium and has helped us accelerate our drug development process."
